With the death toll rising in Assam due to the flood situation getting worse by the day, Bollywood stepped up to support the victims and relief missions. A week after actor Akshay Kumar donated Rs 1 crore each to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF) and Kaziranga National Park, superstar Amitabh Bachchan extended a helping hand and donated Rs 51 lakhs to the Chief Minister Relief Fund (CMRF).

Thank you, on behalf of the people of Assam, for your support. @SrBachchan (sic),” read the tweet of the Chief Minister of Assam, Sarbananda Sonowal. And while expressing his gratitude, Big B encouraged his followers to donate as well. “Assam is in distress .. the floods have caused great damage .. send care and assistance for our brothers and sisters .. contribute generously to the CM Relief Fund .. I just did .. HAVE YOU ..? (sic),” he tweeted.
