The youngest cabinet minister of Harayana was born in 14 February 1952 at Ambala Cantonment. She was elected seven times as MP and three times as a MLA.

Second woman after Indira Gandhi to hold the office of External Affairs Ministry, Swaraj accepted the prestigious Grand Cross Of Order Of Civil Merit, which was conferred by the Spanish government in recognition of India’s support in evacuating its citizens from Nepal during the earthquakes in 2015 on 19 February 2019.

In 1973 , Swaraj who studied law at Punjab University started practice as an advocate in the Supreme Court Of India.

She began her political career with ABVP and after the national emergency, she joined Bharatiya Janata Party and later she became a national leader.

In the 2014 General Election, she won the Vidisha constituency in MP for a second term, retaining her seat by a total margin of 400,000 votes. On 26 may, 2014 she became the Minister of External Affairs.

Due to health issues she decided not to contest the 2019 election and on 6th of August she passed away due to a massive cardiac arrest at AIIMS, DELHI.
