Celebration of National Sports Day at Arunachal University of Studies

In an effort to create awareness of sports among the youth of Arunachal Pradesh, a friendly volleyball match was organised at the AUS campus between Indian Army, Chowkham Battalion of Lohit Brigade, Dao Division and the students of AUS.

National Sports Day was celebrated at Arunachal University of Studies (AUS), Namsai on August 29 as a mark respect to great Hockey Legend Major Dhan Chand on this 114th Birth Anniversary. This day is celebrated every year to develop the spirit of sportsmanship across the country.
Vice Chancellor of the university Professor V K Kawatra delivered a brief but inspiring speech mentioning the awesome stick work of the Indian hockey wizard.
Professor Kawatra further noted that being a former hockey player, he had the privilege of playing with Dhan Chand’s son Ashok Kumar.
The occasion was also graced by Hon’ble Pro Chancellor of AUS Shri Viswa Lochan Agarwal and Hon’ble Registrar of AUS Shri Divangshu Goel.
