AAI TO INTRODUCE SEAPLANE SERVICES IN ASSAM TO BOOST TOURISM

With an initiative to boost Tourism in the northeastern region, the state-run Airport Authority of India (AAI) is all set to introduce Seaplanes in three locations of Assam.
“After a countrywide Study, it was decided to introduce aerdome or seaplanes in three locations in Assam.
To boost tourism and connectivity, three river fronts were selected in Assam to introduce the water based ferry for the first time in India,” said AAI regional executive director Sanjeev jindal.
Reportedly, the Seaplane services will be launched in the Brahmaputra River and Umrangso reservoir by early 2021. The locations Selected for the Seaplane Services include Guwahati, Umrangso ( in Dima Hasao district) and Kaziranga national Park.
