AAI conducts Environment conservation skills for school children

Guwahati: On the eve of World environment Day, Airports Authority of India- Guwahati officials invited school children from the local area to participate in the Environment conservation awareness programme held today at LGBI Airport, Guwahati.
The students of MKME School, Garal (near Guwahati Airport) were greeted with environment friendly gift items. A drawing & sketching skills competition to promote Environment conservation practice was arranged for them on the occasion.
Interacting with the children, Shri Sanjeev Jindal, Regional Executive Director, AAI-North East Region said that the school children have a major role to play in spreading awareness about the ill effects of pollution and on this eve, I wish that they will set examples in their generation for conservation of environment. Tree planation, energy conservation and reduced use of fossil fuel were the general topic of discussion.
Later Shri Jindal also gave away prizes to all the school children as a participant of the campaign – conserving environment.
The students along with their teachers also visited the Air Traffic control office and the Airport terminal building. The short educational trip was arranged to aware them about the discipline and cleanliness AAI employees are maintaining and practicing in daily life. They were equally excited to see the interesting work tasks of the aviation and ATC officials.
Shri Ramesh Kumar, Airport Director- LGBI Airport Guwahati also interacted with the school children and facilitated them on the occasion. In his message to the students, he said that it is the need of the hour to promote environment friendly items and resources to be used in our daily life and as a children, it should be incorporated in their syllabus and part of their activities.
HODs, Senior AAI officials and related stakeholders were also present on the occasion. Sweets and stationery colours were also distributed to the students to wish them best from AAI family.
AAI is a Miniratna Category-I Public Sector Enterprise that manages a total of 129 Airports in the country which include International, Customs, Domestic Airports and Civil Enclaves at Defence Airfields. AAI also provides Air Traffic Management Services (ATMS) over entire Indian Air Space and adjoining oceanic areas with ground installations at all Airports and 25 other locations to ensure safety of Aircraft operations.
