Guwahati 4 June: With the commitment to create a green campus, the University of Science & Technology Meghalaya today pledged and planted more than 500 varieties of trees, mostly herbal medicinal plants in its campus at 9th Mile, Khanapara. The university has extended its support to the Meghalaya Government’s mission to make Guinness World Record as the State sets to plant 1.5 million trees on Environment Day tomorrow.
Participating on the tree plantation campaign, Mahbubul Hoque, Chancellor of USTM and Chairman of ERD Foundation Guwahati said that USTM is planning to promote a herbal medicinal garden in the near future in such a way that people can find different medicinal plants from all around the world in this garden. Shri Hoque congratulated the Government of Meghalaya for its bold step to place the State’s name in Guinness book of world record on the significant day to be observed tomorrow. The University has celebrated World Environment Day today as tomorrow being a holiday for Eid.
